Project serve taught me how lucky i actually am to be where i am and how just giving your time to help people can do so much for others.

CALBREAK is giving students a sweet opportunity to serve with Los Angeles Mission, which is situated in the heart of Skid Row. Founded in 1936, the Los Angeles Mission is a non-profit, privately supported, faith-based organization that serves the immediate and long-term needs of homeless and disadvantaged men, women and children. The Mission is among the nation’s largest service providers to the homeless. Los Angeles Mission is on the front lines of providing meals, hot showers, safe shelter and other life-giving support to people in need.

We are so excited to serve with Los Angeles Mission. The students will be involved in the warehouse for the first part of the morning, assembling food boxes that will be distributed to needy families. The second half of the day will be spent at the Mission itself. The students will receive a tour of the facility, as well as an opportunity to potentially serve some of the people coming through the meal service.

Students should expect to leave the hotel around 9 AM, arriving at the Mission around 10 AM. They will serve until 2 PM, and then make their way back to the hotel for some free time before the evening activities.

At this time, no additional forms are required to serve with Los Angeles Mission. Students will only need to show proof of vaccination.
